Digitalizing the smart meter market

The context

Metrify is Enpal’s metering company, digitalizing the smart meter energy market. When I joined, much of the operational software didn’t exist yet.

What I do

I help design and build operational systems from a blank page to production, across backend, frontend and infrastructure. We started from an empty Azure setup: building the deployment pipelines, defining infrastructure in Terraform and deploying to Kubernetes through Argo CD. On top of that foundation sit the services the business runs on and the tools the operations team uses every day.

Backend
  • C#
  • .NET
  • FastEndpoints
  • REST APIs
  • PostgreSQL
  • Azure Service Bus
Frontend
  • React
  • TypeScript
  • Next.js
Platform
  • Azure
  • Terraform
  • Docker
  • Kubernetes
  • Argo CD
  • Key Vault
  • Monitoring
  • Observability

How I work

Building from scratch means early decisions have long consequences. The hard part is the balance: protecting the architecture so it stays scalable, reliable and maintainable, while still shipping the small changes that keep the business running today. We manage it by being deliberate about which decisions are long-term and deserve care, and which can stay simple for now. AI is part of our daily workflow, but it doesn’t replace judgment: it helps us move faster, and critical thinking and a human in the loop decide what reaches production.

The result

Not a perfect system, but one that works: it scales with the business, the team can maintain it, and it wasn’t over-engineered to get there.
